Your big day is almost here, yay! I have been collecting valuable wedding day tips throughout my years of experience as a Colorado mountain wedding photographer, and I would love to share them with you!

  1. Play music during the getting ready portion of your wedding day!                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Music is a great way to get you pumped up and excited for the joyous day ahead of you! It’s a great way to distract you from any nerves, and to let loose and have fun with your bridesmaids (or groomsmen!) After all, this day is supposed to be fun, right?! If you’re into playlists, create one ahead of time (or assign this fun task to a friend who knows your taste in music). Or choose a couple of your favorite Pandora stations and have them handy. I’m telling you, music makes a huge difference in the vibe of the day!
  2. Eat lunch and hydrate! Have someone in charge of providing lunch for the bride and groom and all the bridal party. And drink lots of water. Especially if anyone is coming from sea level- hydration is so key! We want everyone feeling great and no one passing out during the ceremony, right?!
  3. Remember to smile when walking down the aisle! This goes for everyone: groom, bride, bride’s dad or whoever walks you down the aisle, bridal party!
  4.  Face each other and hold hands during the ceremony! This seems obvious, but sometimes couples forget. We want your lovey dovey and happiness to come across in the photos!wedding day tips play music during getting ready
  5. Try to be together as much as possible throughout the wedding day so that your memories are together.                                                                                                                                                      Someone gave me this advice before I got married, and Chris and I took it to heart. We tried to spend the entire day together: mingling with guests together, dancing together etc. Creating wedding day memories together! And I am so thankful for that advice because after all, this day is all about the two of you! It’s so easy to get pulled in different directions all day, but then you have totally different memories and experiences from your wedding day. So try and stick together! 🙂
  6. Speaking of memories, quickly write down all your favorite moments from the whole wedding day the next day!                                                                                                                                   Do it while everything is still fresh in your mind so you don’t forget anything! A great time to do this is when you’re on the plane to your honeymoon, or just whenever you have a quick minute. I just “wrote” mine in a note on my phone and emailed it to myself later. It’s super fun to look back on and remember all the special little moments!
  7. Do your best to speak to all your guests and thank them for coming to celebrate you guys!                                                                                                                                                                       Right after you eat dinner is a great time to make your way around to all the tables and say hi, share a hug and a quick catch up. If you have a massive wedding and likely won’t make it around to everyone in person, at least take a moment to grab the mic after toasts and thank everyone for coming!wedding day tips for bride and groom thank your parents after toasts
  8. Try to take moments here and there to step back and soak it all in.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    The day is finally here! All the details came together, and it is finally the day you get to marry your bestie! It goes by way too fast, so try and soak it in and take mental snapshots! Talk to your fiance about this so you can try and remind each other throughout the day. A few key moments to try and do this are: once you’ve put your wedding dress on, when you’re about to walk down the aisle, when exchanging vows, during the toasts, and when you’re crushin the dance floor!wedding day tips for bride and groom at their reception
  9. If your parents helped at all, whether financially or with planning, take a moment to thank them publicly.                                                                                                                                            They might not express it, but this day is most likely a big dream for them too. It’s something they are proud of, and is important to them. So be sure to let everyone know how thankful you are for them and all their help! This wasn’t a common thing to do when we got married, and it’s something I really wish we had done. A great time to do this is right after toasts.
