Half a toenail was lost that morning, there were 30-35 mph winds, and needless to say it was freezing for half the session! But that did not deter these two fabulous people from crushing their RMNP engagement session with me! We got some gorgeous yellow color from the aspens, and also ventured up Trail Ridge Road. This was definitely a Rocky Mountain National Park engagement session for the books! The mix of yellow aspens and epic Colorado mountain views was exactly what these two lovebirds wanted. And I’m so glad we found it!

So Alex texts me a couple hours before we’re supposed to meet in Estes Park. She says that she lost half her toenail so they are running a little behind. She said she just needed some advil and ice and was good to go! My stomach did a few flips at the thought of losing half a toenail, because OMG painful! And then I felt so bad for her, talk about hardcore though! And I realized towards the end of our session that she hadn’t complained even once…and she was wearing boots and walking allll around, even climbing up some rocks! My couples are seriously the best! I love when they will brave the weather (or toe injuries!) in order to get epic, beautiful photos! It’s so Colorado. 🙂

RMNP engagement sessions have quickly become some of my faves to do for my couples because they are always so different, yet always epic! The weather here changes so quickly, that you never really know exactly what you’re going to get. But you know it will be incredible! And I love that! Alex and Cody, thank you for exploring with me and creating some magical photos for your amazing RMNP engagement session! I seriously cannot wait for your wedding next summer and to celebrate you two and your marriage!! 🙂

Victoria and Jeff are sweet, kind, thoughtful, and obviously so in love! They found me through the Stone Mountain Lodge wedding venue in beautiful Lyons, Colorado. And I am SO glad they did! They live in Texas but had a destination wedding out here in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! You may remember their epic Rocky Mountain National Park engagement session I posted a couple months back! Definitely worth a quick looksie if you haven’t seen those yet!

Their sweet August wedding was absolutely perfect. We started out with some getting ready photos in the cabins. The Stone Mountain Lodge wedding venue has the most picturesque spots around the grounds for portraits! We then snuck Victoria into the bridal tent where Jeff had posted tons of sticky notes as a surprise for her! What a sweet and thoughtful gesture right before the ceremony! Their little nephew was about the cutest ring bearer ever. He rode up in his radio flyer wagon chewing on the ring box haha. So precious! Their ceremony was sweet and touching. One of the super fun and unique things about the Stone Mountain Lodge wedding venue is they take you up the mountain for epic mountaintop bride and groom portraits! The views are incredible as you will soon see! We had a blast up there with Victoria and Jeff taking some gorgeous husband and wife portraits!

The reception was a blast as tons of the guests brought their best moves to the dance floor all night! Enjoy my faves of their beautiful wedding at the Stone Mountain Lodge wedding venue! “I have a special gift I’d like to give Jessica when there’s time.” Her dad came up to me while Jessica was giving some sweet gifts to her bridesmaids before the ceremony. Of course we made time for him right after that. As Jessica opened the box, he told her, “this necklace was my mother’s.” Everyone who was present started crying, and it was such a tender and emotional moment to be a part of. It is amazing how cherished family heirlooms can be such a meaningful gift. This was one of many times I cried on this sweet wedding day!

Jessica, Dan and I met last summer when they were in town planning their Sapphire Point Overlook wedding. They hail from Wisconsin and were planning a destination wedding here in the Colorado mountains! Dan’s dad lives in Copper and Dan lived here for a few years building ski lifts. Colorado is a very special place to them both as he has brought Jessica here over the years. During our chat at the brewery, Dan said one of his favorite things about Jessica is that she does a lot of little things for him without asking, and he loves that! Jess loves that Dan has pushed her out of her boundaries and challenged her to try new things. Sounds like a pretty good match to me 🙂

Sapphire Point Overlook wedding ceremony

These two lovebirds had an intimate wedding ceremony at Sapphire Point Overlook at Lake Dillon. They walked down the aisle to Latch by Sam Smith and I love love that song and how unique and perfect of a choice that was! Cue another time I cried. 🙂

The weather was delightful, the ceremony was small, sweet, and absolutely perfect. I feel truly honored when couples choose me as their photographer for small, intimate weddings. I truly love documenting those special relationships between all the people they love most in the world. It is so rewarding! After the ceremony we ventured to Loveland Pass for some epic mountaintop husband and wife portraits! It was insanely windy, but Jess rocked it like a model bride! Let’s just say Tyra Banks would be proud. 😉

Ohhh my goodness where do I even begin?! Basically from the moment Gina rolled up into my inbox I was in love. She talked about their matching T-shirt collection, their couple name “Clina,” laughed at her fiance’s amazing last name, and talked about how madly in love they are. If that doesn’t scream “my people” I’m not quite sure what does! Besides being total dreamboats, these two are hilarious, precious, kind, witty, and so much freaking fun! We have become fast friends and I couldn’t be more grateful! Ahem not to mention that Gina is a hardcore Bachelor fan and this is v important in life. Their wedding is at Wedgewood Boulder Creek in October, eek so soon! I am seriously pumped!

We tossed around a few different ideas, but when I threw out Trail Ridge Road for their engagement photos, we were all set on it! Gina actually lived in RMNP a few years back working with horses in the park! See, I told you she was the coolest ever. So it was raining pretty heavily at one point when we began our journey up Trail Ridge Road. The weather changes drastically and so quickly in Rocky Mountain National Park, so we weren’t worried about it! Sure enough 10 minutes later we came to Forest Canyon Overlook and there were insanely beautiful blue clouds in the sky! The weather seriously just got better and better and it almost feels like we did multiple sessions considering all the different looks we got from the varying weather. We ended with some insane fog and a crazy sunset! It was unreal and absolutely magical!

These Trail Ridge Road engagement photos are literally some of my favorites I’ve ever taken, and with some of my new fave people! I hope you enjoy these and stay tuned for Gina and Clark’s wedding in a couple months!!

It was forecasting a solid chance of rain for their Brainard Lake Engagement Photos, but we decided to go for it anyway! As I drove through Boulder and Nederland, it was pouring at certain points. But as we got into Ward it was drizzly, with insane beautiful fog and the trees were so green from the moisture. Kayla and Barry asked my thoughts on shooting in this kind of situation, and I told them how absolutely stoked I was for this epic, moody foggy weather! This type of weather is not normal for Colorado seeing as it’s sunny 300 days of the year! Therefore I always love to shoot in fog! They were on the same stoke level, and so we went for it. Their Brainard Lake engagement photos were absolutely epic, and we were all so glad we stuck it out!

So you will never guess how I met these two lovelies. Through the great American sport of dodgeball. Yes, you read that right. We’ve all played on the same coed dodgeball team with some mutual friends for a couple of seasons! It’s a blast, and way more competitive than you would probably imagine haha! Whenver Kayla gets out she bolts off the field faster than lightning which always cracks me up haha.

Barry proposed to Kayla when they were in Iceland (nice job Barry!) And when they reached out about wedding photography, I was stoked to say the least! They are getting married at the Golden Hotel this October. We are all hoping for some beautiful fall colors!
